The name says it all! “GRAVEL TRAVEL”. It’s fast, it’s “fairly” flat, it’s off-road and best of all, it gives the gravel bike a true feel for its use! With three distances to choose from, the GT100, GT70 and the GT60, there are R100,000 combined cash prizes to the elite men and ladies podiums as well as additional cash prizes to be won for all category winners.
The GT100 Miler is a 160 km route with 950 m elevation that will start from Cafe du Cirque. Riders will head out to the Daleside on gravel heading towards Three Rivers. The ride will then head towards the well-known Vaal Dam that is on a long but adventurous descent. The route then takes a turn and heads back towards the south of Jhb through several farm roads and jeep tracks. If you are too eager in the beginning, it is going to be a real uphill battle home!
